Sync images, SEO, compare-at price, cost and weight

Beyond stock and price, Everstock can sync more of a product's details: its images, its SEO text, its compare-at price, its cost and its weight. Each one is a row under All fields on the connection page, and each one is off for products you already have until you turn it on.

Where the settings live

Open Connections, choose the connection, and scroll to All fields. The rows are grouped under headings:

• Variant details: Compare-at price, Cost per item, SKU, Barcode and Weight.
• Media: Images.
• SEO: SEO title and SEO description.

Each row has two checkboxes. On new products fills the value in on products Everstock creates. On existing products writes the value onto products you already have. Click Save in the Shopify admin save bar when you are done.

A field the supplier's feed does not carry is not shown as a row. It is named in a line that starts "Not in this supplier's feed", so you know why it is missing.

Map the fields first

A value can only sync if Everstock can read it from the feed:

• REST API feed: in Field mapping, map the supplier field to Compare-at price (decimal), Cost per item (decimal), Weight (number), SEO title or SEO description. For images, map Image URL for a single image, or fill in the Images fields for a whole gallery. See Map your supplier fields to your store.
• CSV or spreadsheet: map the columns under More columns. See Connect a CSV file or spreadsheet.
• WooCommerce: these are read for you. WooCommerce does not have a cost or an SEO field, so Cost per item, SEO title and SEO description are not available from a WooCommerce store.

Images

On a new product, Everstock adds every image the supplier sends, in the supplier's order.

For a REST API feed, the Images fields under the mapping rows read a whole gallery. Image list path (optional) is where the feed lists a product's images, like images. If each entry in that list is an object, Image URL key (optional) names the key that holds the address (it defaults to url), and Alt text key (optional) names the key that holds the alt text (it defaults to alt). Leave the list path blank to use only the single Image URL mapping.

On a product you already have, On existing products only ever adds. It looks at a product when the feed has more images than the product does, and adds the supplier's images to the end of the gallery. It never deletes an image, never replaces one, and never changes the order of the images you already have.

Everstock remembers each supplier image it has added, by its web address. So it never adds the same supplier image twice, even over many runs. If you delete an image Everstock added, it is not added back. Everstock cannot tell whether you uploaded a copy of a supplier image yourself, though. The first time you turn this on, run Preview changes and look at products that already have images.

In a run, the Fields changed column shows the image count, like "Images: 1 → 3". That means the product had 1 image and the feed has 3. A revert does not remove images a run added.

SEO title and SEO description

These are the title and description search engines show for the product. When On existing products is on, the supplier's text replaces yours on every sync where the two differ. A blank value in the feed is never written, so a feed with no SEO text cannot wipe yours.

Compare-at price

The compare-at price is the "was" price Shopify shows next to a sale price. When On existing products is on, Everstock keeps it in step with the feed.

For WooCommerce, a product is on sale when its regular price is higher than its current price. Everstock then writes the regular price as the compare-at price. When the sale ends, Everstock clears the compare-at price.

Cost per item

Cost per item is what the product costs you. Shopify uses it for profit reports, and customers never see it. When On existing products is on, the supplier's cost replaces yours whenever the two differ.

Weight

Weight is used for shipping rates. Everstock needs a unit as well as a number. It reads the unit in one of these ways:

• WooCommerce uses the weight unit set in your WooCommerce store.
• CSV or spreadsheet reads a Weight unit column, the unit in the column name (like "Weight (kg)"), or the Weight unit for every row you choose.
• REST API feed uses Weight unit (fallback) in the Field mapping section when the feed gives no unit.

Everstock compares weights in any unit. So 500 g and 0.5 kg count as the same weight, and nothing is written.

Before you turn one on

On existing products replaces the value on products you may have edited by hand. The All fields section warns about this in a banner headed "These fields overwrite your product data". Images are the exception, because they are only ever added.

Save, then run Preview changes. The Fields changed column lists every value that would change, with its old and new value. If the connection holds changes for your approval, the new field waits for you on its first sync. See Update product content, one field at a time and Held changes and approval.
