Email notifications

Account and securityUpdated 16 September 2026

Everstock can email you after a real sync run finishes, so you hear about a problem without opening the app. Every store starts on Only when something needs attention, and you can change that at any time under Settings.

Where the setting lives

Open Settings in the app navigation, then look under Email notifications. Choose one of the three options and save through the Shopify admin save bar, which appears at the top of the page once you change something. There is no button at the foot of the form.

The three options

Only when something needs attention is the default. You get an email when a run fails outright, when a whole run is held for your review, or when some of its changes are held while the rest go through. A run that finishes cleanly with nothing held sends nothing, so this option stays quiet unless there is something for you to look at.

After every sync sends the same emails as the option above, plus a short summary every time a run finishes cleanly. Choose this if you want a running record of every sync in your inbox, not only the ones that need attention.

Never turns the feature off. Nothing is emailed, whatever a run's outcome, and you find out about a failed or held run the same way you always could: by opening Sync history or a connection's own page.

What counts as "a real run"

This setting only ever applies to a real sync, one that can write to your store. A preview, which never writes anything, does not send an email under any of the three options, since there is nothing for you to act on yet. Preview a connection from its own page or from Connections any time you want to see what a sync would do first.

Where the email goes

Every notification goes to your store's contact email, the same address Shopify has on file for your account. Everstock does not ask you to type a separate address for this, and there is nowhere on the settings page to change it. If your store has no contact email on file, or your setting is Never, no email is ever sent, and the app writes a short note to its own log instead so support can still see that a run needed attention.

Why you might not get one for every failure

A connection stuck failing the same way, run after run, does not refill your inbox. Everstock sends at most one email per connection per hour for the same repeated problem. A run that fails for a different reason, or one that suddenly holds a different set of fields, is treated as new and gets its own email even inside that hour. Once the underlying problem is fixed and a run succeeds, the next new problem starts a fresh hour of its own.

What the email itself contains

Every notification names the connection, says plainly what happened (failed, held, or some changes held for review), and gives the run's counts: how many items were fetched, applied, failed and left for review. It links straight to the run so you can read the full detail, and it never repeats a raw error message from your supplier's feed, since that can carry a URL or response text you would not want forwarded by email.

See Run a sync and read the result for what a run's own page shows, and Held changes and approval for why a run or a field might be held in the first place.
